And it is a nonstop flight from the Philippines’ capital to the American city.

On Wednesday, October 2, flag carrier Philippine Airlines officially inaugurated its direct route from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport to Tacoma International Airport in Seattle, Washington.

This allows PAL to serve the increasing population of Filipino-Americans in the Northwestern region of the contiguous United States, as the neighboring states of Washington and Oregon are home to about 240,000 FilAm.

The first flight, which uses a Boeing 777-300 ER plane, departed NAIA Terminal 1 at 10:40 pm (Manila time), with the return flight from Seattle leaving Tacoma Airport at 11:40 pm (local time).

The Manila-Seattle route also allows passengers to link to other states, such as the capital Washington D.C., Nevada (Las Vegas), Texas (Houston), Illinois (Chicago), Oregon (Portland), and Alaska (Anchorage) through PAL’s partner Alaska Airlines.

The said 12-hour-long flight connecting the two cities is the sixth U.S. destination for the legacy carrier, as it also flies to Guam, Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York.

At present, PAL flies to 39 international destinations, which is on top of their domestic presence comprising 33 routes.
