It marked the return of channel 2 after a two-year-long silence.
On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, ALLTV, the fledgling station operated by the Villar-family owned Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS) was “soft-launched.”
The occasion was marked with a slate of live programming, which began with a two-hour special at 12 noon led by Willie Revillame, Toni Gonzaga, Mariel Rodriguez, Ruffa Gutierrez, among others.
On its first broadcast day, it also aired Gonzaga’s exclusive interview with President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr., which she campaigned during the 2022 elections and coincidentally celebrated his birthday on that day.
ALLTV’s September launch took place nearly eight months after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) granted AMBS the license to operate analog VHF channel 2 and DTT channel 16 in Mega Manila, frequencies that were previously operated by ABS-CBN Corporation prior to its May 2020 shutdown.
Although, the “new channel 2” struggled to gain footing, and was marred with issues regarding its signal and nationwide reach.
In March of 2023, ALLTV canceled most of its original programming and resorted to airing mostly reruns of station-produced shows and including those bought from ABS-CBN.
After that, the following year, in April 2024, ALLTV formally signed an agreement with ABS-CBN to broadcast the latter shows on the former, which includes the longest-running Filipino-language newscast ‘TV Patrol,’ noontime show ‘It’s Showtime,’ and blocks of Jeepney TV’s programming.
