The new free-to-air and pay television news channel is now on the air.
On Monday, September 9, the Bilyonaryo News Channel (BNC) made its official launch, more than two months after it began its test broadcasts in July.
Part of the channel’s premiere line-up is the slate of news and business programs from morning to evening primetime beginning with ‘It’s A Beautiful Day,’ ‘Basis Points,’ ‘Industry Beacon,’ ‘Follow The Money,’ ‘Pathways To Success,’ and ‘At the Forefront,’ which all debuted weeks back.
Hourly news bulletins ‘Newsfeed’ and ‘Newsfeed Business’ are also part of the first wave of shows on the fledgling channel.
Meanwhile, a new show in the morning block titled ‘Weather HQ’ with Paolo del Rosario aired its pilot telecast on Monday.
BNC’s flagship Filipino-language newscast ‘Agenda,’ fronted by Korina Sanchez-Roxas and Pinky Webb, also began on the same day and was also hooked-up on radio via DWAR Radyo Abante on the 1494 AM band.
The channel also boasts lifestyle and interview programs led by ‘Usapang Bilyonaryo’ with Ces Drilon and ‘Lifestyle Lab’ with Marie Lozano.
The new BNC is available on BEAM TV on free-to-air digital television channel 31 and Cignal TV channel 24, as well as Cignal Play and the Cignal Play TV box.
The launch of Bilyonaryo News Channel is the first time that a dedicated local business and news channel opened in the Philippines in nearly a decade.
It was in 2015 when Bloomberg TV and TV5 Network entered into a partnership to launch the local business news channel Bloomberg TV Philippines on Cignal TV.
However, that channel was eventually closed down in 2018 to make way for the English-language news channel One News, a partnership between TV5, The Philippine Star, BusinessWorld, and Cignal TV.
Although, to this day, One News continues to air select programming from Bloomberg.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s own 24/7 English news channel ANC offers its own set of business news programs as part of its weekday line-up, led by ‘Market Edge,’ ‘Business Roadshow,’ and ‘Business Outlook.’
