‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap’ ending after two years

The long-running afternoon drama will take its final bow soon.

Since last week, teasers and plugs for GMA’s long-running medical-family drama ‘Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap’ have begun displaying a notice indicating the words “ang nalalapit na pagtatapos,” signifying the program’s nearing end.

While GMA did not state how long the show will continue to stay on-air, unconfirmed reports suggest that ‘AKNP’ — which stars Jillian Ward, Carmina Villaroel, and Richard Yap, among others — will be broadcasting its finale episode on Saturday, September 28.

Currently, the storyline now revolves around the canceled wedding between Lyneth (played by Villaroel) and RJ (Yap), Analyn’s (Ward) disappearance, and the revived reign of terror by the main villains Moira/Morgana (Pinky Amador) and Carlos (Allen Dizon).

Despite the finale date still kept under wraps, ‘Abot-Kamay,’ which also celebrates its second anniversary on Thursday, September 5, now holds the record of being the longest-running self-produced drama of GMA Network in the 2000s.

‘AKNP’ made its debut exactly two years ago as a medical drama for Afternoon Prime, and since then, it has managed to stay on top of the TV ratings board for the block, and at times, even creating all-time high records that trumped the figures registered by those of the network’s primetime dramas.

It also saw the network’s many changes in its lead-in noontime slot, which started with ‘Eat Bulaga,’ followed by the post-TVJ iteration of the TAPE-produced show, and ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya,’ before ‘It’s Showtime’ simulcast on GMA started in April 2024.

‘Abot-Kamay’ also faced some controversies, such as the first instance in the earlier part of its run, where Analyn’s behavior in the emergency room during a case caused uproar in the medical community.

At the moment, GMA has yet to state when ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap’ will end and what its replacement program would be.

SEPTEMBER 23 UPDATE:

Beginning Monday, September 23, ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap’ is down to its last four weeks on the air, with the finale slated to air on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

It is slated to be replaced by ‘Forever Young,’ starring child star Euwenn Mikaell, Michael de Mesa, and Nadine Samonte, among others.

Why keep the finale a secret? The show is not much about being a medical drama..Its more on murder and kidnapping
