He is set to assume the new post on Monday.

Towards the end of the ‘TV Patrol Weekend’ edition on Sunday, September 1, the newscast’s main anchors Alvin Elchico and Zen Hernandez delivered an important update to their viewers.

Elchico, who had been anchoring the program since 2011, is leaving the weekend newscast to assume a new role within the newsroom.

Beginning Monday, September 2, he is set to take over the fourth main anchor spot in ‘TV Patrol,’ which was recently vacated by Henry Omaga-Diaz who had left the Philippines’ longest-running Filipino-language newscast on Friday, August 30.

With his addition, the new ‘TV Patrol’ anhor line-up will now be composed of ‘Kabayan’ Noli de Castro, Karen Davila, Bernadette Sembrano, and Alvin Elchico.

In his final extro in ‘TV Patrol Weekend,’ Elchico thanked the production team behind the newscast, staffers, viewers, and Hernandez for joining him in his 13-year-long tenure as an anchor.

As of the moment, it is not yet revealed who will be replacing him in his anchoring duties for the weekend edition.

Alvin Elchico joined the then-seven-year-old newscast in 2011 and was seated alongside Bernadette Sembrano.

Upon Sembrano’s assumption of the main anchor post at ‘TV Patrol’ in 2015, Zen Hernandez was tapped to become Elchico’s partner every weekend.

On top of his regular duties as ‘TVP’s’ weekend anchor, Alvin Elchico is also a reporter in consumer beat, an anchor for Teleradyo Serbisyo and Radyo 630’s morning programs ‘Gising Pilipinas’ and ‘Teleradyo Serbisyo Balita,’ and at times, also serves as a pinch-hitter for the main weekday edition.
