The Kapatid network has aired its side on the matter.
On Friday, August 9, TV5 Network issued a statement regarding one of its employees and an independent contractor in its news department.
According to TV5, the company’s management “is aware of the matter regarding an alleged incident between a TV5 employee and an independent contractor.”
It added that the management has “released the necessary Notice To Explain and are conducting an investigation to determine the facts so we may take the appropriate action.”
“We have reached out to the persons concerned and are gathering information,” the Kapatid network noted before assuring that “the rights and welfare of all parties shall be protected” amidst the issue.
“TV5 remains committed to fostering a safe working environment. We ask everyone to kindly reserve judgment pending our investigation,” it ended its statement.
Earlier today, an employee working as a researcher for TV5 filed a complaint before Senator Raffy Tulfo’s radio program ‘Wanted Sa Radyo’ against a program manager.
The ‘talent,’ who had only been working for a TV5 public affairs show for a week at that point, detailed that the incident occurred at 1:30 am on July 23, 2024 in a hotel in Pasig City.
The program manager invited him for a drinking session in Makati City that night, in which the talent later joined.
However, upon returning to the hotel where the program manager had been staying, the talent was already intoxicated and after cleaning up, the program manager reached for the private area of the talent and started to do lascivious acts.
Later that same day, the talent lodged a formal complaint against the program manager before the police and the team behind ‘Wanted Sa Radyo.’
So far, the talent has also filed a formal case against the program manager before people in the human resources and news departments of TV5, with the HR acknowledging receipt on July 29.
Tulfo and his team then revealed in the same episode that the TV5 management has advised the program manager, who continued going to work that day, to not go on-air.
The Senator’s team has also since drafted a letter directed to TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan over the matter and promised justice to the talent.
Rolly Santos, head of TV5’s HR department, said that they have also issued a show-cause order versus the program manager last August 6.
