The group has turned 8 years old.
On Thursday, August 8, members of highly-popular Korean group Blackpink reunited for a livestream broadcast on Weverse to mark their 8th anniversary since their official debut.
Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé were joined by BLINKs all over the world for the special occasion, as the four K-pop superstars sang ‘Happy Birthday’ song in Korean.
The said stream is Blackpink’s first public appearance together after almost nine months, as they are currently focusing on their individual careers through their respective management labels.
The celebration also comes weeks after talent agency YG Entertainment announced that an album is in the works for them and is set to be released in 2025.
Blackpink made their official debut on August 8, 2016, and became well-known in their home country and abroad, thanks to their successive hit songs ‘Whistle,’ ‘Boombayah,’ ‘Playing with Fire,’ ‘As If It’s Your Last,’ ‘Ddu-du Ddu-du,’ ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘Lovesick Girls,’ ‘Pink Venom,’ and ‘Shut Down,’ among many others.
In late 2023, they ended their individual management contracts with YG Entertainment in favor of establishing their own companies.
Although, they remain signed with the agency for their group activities.
