The Kapamilya Daytime Drama Queen is gearing up for a new series.

On Monday, July 15, ABS-CBN Studios revealed the newest project top-billed by actress Julia Montes, who returns for a full-length series after two years.

Montes is set to star in the upcoming teleserye titled ‘Saving Grace,’ which will be the Filipino adaptation of popular Japanese drama ‘Mother’ of Nippon TV.

The new series will mark her comeback to the small screen after her stint as Mara in the longest-running primetime drama ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ in 2022.

ABS-CBN’s chief operating officer Cory Vidanes shared her excitement over the localization of the Nippon TV narrative format.

“This is our very first adaptation of a Nippon TV series and we are very grateful to Nippon TV for entrusting us with the rights for the Filipino version,” Vidanes said.

Nippon TV’s Content Business division, represented by Sally Yamamoto and Yuki Akehi, echoed the sentiments of their Filipino counterparts and sent their best wishes to the production team.

The former congratulated ABS-CBN for winning the rights to adapt ‘Mother’ for the Filipino audience, while the latter expressed her best wishes to the cast and crew of the Philippine remake.

‘Mother’ was first broadcast in Japan in April 2010 and starred Yasuko Mastuyuki.

Since then, it has been localized in nine (9) other countries, including South Korea, China, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, France, and Spain.

Filming for ‘Saving Grace’ is expected to commence soon, with the rest of the cast members of the adaptation series yet to be revealed.

It is expected to be aired on primetime via ABS-CBN platforms sometime in 2025.
