It is the mall chain’s first of the four planned new developments set to be opened this year.
On Friday, May 17, SM City Caloocan will officially open its doors to customers as the third mall of the Sy family-owned group in the northern Metro Manila city.
Located along Deparo Road in the Bagumbung district, it is situated in between the northern and southern halves of the Caloocan City.
According to SM, the new complex has a gross floor area of 94,000 square meters and three levels and will house the corporation’s own brands like The SM Store, SM Supermarket, SM Appliance Center, as well as homegrown brands.
The mall will also have “abundant greenery and strategically placed landscaping” which it says will “blur the lines between the mall and the modern-day Town Plaza-themed exterior.”
SM City Caloocan is the third SM mall in the city, following SM Sangandaan which opened in 2015 and SM Grand Central that was launched in 2021.
It is also the first of the four malls planned to be opened by the group in 2024, along with SM J Mall Mandaue in Cebu, SM City Laoag in Ilocos Norte, and SM City San Fernando in La Union province.
With the addition of SM City Caloocan, SM Supermalls now has 86 malls in the Philippines and 8 in China, bringing the total to 94.
The firm owns some of the world’s biggest malls, namely the Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Megamall in Ortigas, SM North EDSA in Quezon City, and SM Seaside City in Cebu.
