In a statement on Saturday, April 20, Korean music company SM Entertainment announced that NCT member Renjun will be taking a break from the spotlight.
“Recently, due to worsening of his physical health and symptoms of anxiety, Renjun visited the hospital and based on the results of his examination, he was advised by a doctor that he needs plenty of rest and stability,” SM said in its statement as translated by entertainment news site Soompi.
SM continued that they “deemed our artist’s health our top priority, and after careful discussion with Renjun, we decided that he would focus on his treatment and recovery.”
Hence, Renjun will indefinitely not join in any future activities from April 20 until SM has made another announcement of his resumption of promotions.
Likewise, Renjun will also not be participating in sub-unit NCT Dream’s ‘The Dream Show 3: Dream()Scape’ concert from May 2 to 4 in Seoul.
NCT Dream is scheduled to make their visit to Manila for a solo concert this August.
“We would like to apologize for giving fans cause for concern. We will do our utmost so that Renjun can be together with the fans in good health,” the company told the K-pop idol’s fans.
The company has also reminded that they will be taking legal action against those who share “malicious posts… slander, sexual harassment, false rumors, insults, and defamation of character” not only towards Renjun, but all their artists.
This, as earlier this month, Renjun was at the receiving end of abusive messages from stalker fans, also known as sasaengs.
