The Philippines’ longest-running newscast is making a comeback to its original home.
In a Facebook post by ALLTV News, the news team of TV station ALLTV, it confirmed through an art card that ABS-CBN’s flagship primetime newscast ‘TV Patrol’ will be seen on the channel via a simulcast starting Monday, April 15.
“TV Patrol, mapapanood na sa ALLTV simula April 15,” the caption of the said photo read.
ALLTV, the fledgling TV network of the Villar family-owned Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), also announced that they will carry both the weekday and weekend editions of the program.
This development marks the comeback of sorts of ‘TV Patrol’ to its original home of analog channel 2 on free-to-air television — which was previously operated by ABS-CBN until its infamous shutdown nearly four years ago.
Notably, the newscast was also the very last program to air on what was then-ABS-CBN channel 2 when it went off air in compliance with the cease-and-desist order issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on May 5, 2020.
However, ‘TV Patrol’ will not be the first ABS-CBN show to air on ALLTV since the “new channel 2” started its operations in September 2022.
Since the channel’s inception, classic Kapamilya dramas like ‘Doble Kara,’ ‘Ngayon at Kailanman,’ ‘Sana Dalawa Ang Puso,’ and ‘Mea Culpa,’ among others have been re-aired on the ALLTV.
ABS-CBN, for their part, have also confirmed the move through a plug at the end of April 13 edition of ‘TV Patrol Weekend,’ which will also be aired on ALLTV starting next Saturday, April 20.
‘TV Patrol’ airs weeknights at 6:30 pm and ‘TV Patrol Weekend’ every Saturday and Sunday at 5:30 pm on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, ANC, Teleradyo Serbisyo, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, ABS-CBN News platforms, TFC, and heard on radio via an audio simulcast on DWPM Radyo 630.
