The Korean pop star joins the growing stable of artists of GMA’s talent management group.
In an announcement on Monday, April 1, Sparkle GMA Artist Center shared the big news about the newest member of its family.
It is none other than Korean pop star Nancy McDonie, who is best known as one of the members of K-pop group Momoland.
Sparkle said in its post that the agency “proudly welcomes its new international star, Nancy McDonie, to its diverse and stellar roster of talents.”
“Get ready to witness her journey as she shines among the brightest stars in the industry,” the talent management group added as it formally welcomed Nancy to the team.
Nancy debuted as a Korean pop singer in 2017 as part of the group Momoland.
In 2018, the group achieved breakthrough success, thanks to the release of the song ‘BBOOM BBOOM,’ which also became a viral dance cover material in the Philippines.
The group then released singles like ‘BAAM,’ ‘Thumbs Up,’ and ‘Ready or Not,’ before officially disbanding in early 2023.
In 2019, as Momoland visited the Philippines, Nancy was supposed to do a project in the country.
She was offered to lead star with local actor-musician James Reid in a drama series titled ‘Soulmate Project’ for GMA’s erstwhile rival station ABS-CBN.
However, due to complexities brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the show was postponed, before it was shelved.
As a ‘solid Kapuso,’ Nancy is set to appear in the upcoming second season of ‘Running Man Philippines,’ which premieres this May 2024.
