The Kapuso network’s daytime line-up is on the cusp of a major shake-up.
On Saturday, March 2, Television and Production Exponents, (TAPE) Inc. pulled the plug on their noontime variety show ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya.’
The axe fell on the program just nine months after it started as TAPE’s post-TVJ iteration of ‘Eat Bulaga’ and less than 2 months after it was renamed to its final title after a court ruling prevented TAPE from further using the ‘EB’ title.
After the unceremonious end of the program on Saturday, multiple reports have since popped up regarding broadcast network GMA’s upcoming plans regarding its noontime slot.
At present, ‘TP’ producer TAPE still has a contract with the Kapuso network, which will expire in December 2024. The status of that, however, is still up in the air following the cancelation of ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya.’
News over the weekend also divulged that TAPE will air reruns of past episodes of the show until tomorrow, March 7.
After that, GMA is said to be temporarily filling the slot with alternative programs until a new noontime show has been prepared.
In this installment of ‘Schedule Suggestions,’ we’ll take a quick look at the most plausible option for GMA now while they wait for a new show to take over the slot.

For its weekday daytime block, GMA should toy with the idea of temporarily simulcasting over the main network two morning news programs from sister channel GTV: ‘Regional TV News’ and ‘Balitanghali,’ which also both serve as the lead-in shows for ‘It’s Showtime’.
This is to prevent GMA from airing two repetitive movie blocks, at least during this transition period.
Morning variety show ‘Tikctoclock,’ another top contender for the vacated 12 noon slot, should do a special trial first by airing from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm during this period.
After that, ‘Kapuso Movie Festival’ will air with its usual 105 minute-long allotted airtime, followed by an earlier GMA Afternoon block, which could see ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap’ air at a “special” time slot of 2:00 pm, followed by ‘Lilet Matias’ at 2:50 pm and ‘Makiling’ at 3:40 pm.
‘Fast Talk With Boy Abunda’ should then be amended to 30 minutes and air from 4:30 pm.
Following that is ‘Romantic Deception,’ which could transfer to 5:00 pm, and ‘Family Feud’ running for a full-hour from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Changes are also expected to come for the Kapuso network’s Saturday daytime schedule.
To replace the first 45 minutes of the vacated three-hour slot of ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya,’ a special episode of Tiktoclock should air from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm — basically keeping its same proposed timeslot above.
After ‘Kapuso Movie Festival’ at 12:15 pm and ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap’ at 2:00 pm, GMA Public Affairs Saturday drama anthologies should also see their runtime temporarily extended from the current 45 to 55 minutes.
Which means ‘Tadhana’ will air at 2:45 pm, followed by ‘Wish Ko Lang’ at 3:40 pm, and ‘Pinoy Crime Stories’ at 4:35 pm.
The abrupt end of ‘Tahanang Pinakamasaya’ presents both a problem and opportunity for the television giant.
On one hand, it created a gaping hole in its prime noontime slot.
But on the other, it also presented them the chance to create a much more formidable show and programming line-up that would help the main channel better compete with noontime variety behemoths that are ‘Eat Bulaga’ and ‘It’s Showtime,’ even if it airs on secondary channel GTV.
During this period of change, GMA should be creative enough in the interim scheduled that it will present, so as to prevent them from switching over to other channels, or even worse for the TV giant, to other media platforms… permanently.
