On Monday, February 19, ABS-CBN Studios and Viu Philippines dropped the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Philippine adapation of ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?’
Based on the hit 2018 South Korean drama, the local remake stars Paulo Avelino as Vice Chairman and Kim Chiu as the titular Secretary Kim.
In the 30 second first look, viewers get a glimpse of the dynamics between the Vice Chairman and his trusted Secretary.
Things will take a turn in their professional relationship, as Secretary Kim attempts to file her resignation from her position.
In the same teaser, the premiere date for the show had also been revealed to be happening sometime in March 2024.
‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?’ will serve as the follow-up project for both Paulo Avelino and Kim Chiu, who are currently seen in the ongoing series ‘Linlang.’
Moreover, it would also mark the second time for the both of them to star in a local remake of a Korean drama.
In 2008, Kim Chiu led the Philippine version of ‘My Girl,’ which was based on the 2006 series of Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae.
Meanwhile, for Paulo Avelino, he was part of the Philippine adaptation of ‘Flower of Evil’ as Jacob del Rosario.
Aside from the two, confirmed cast members for the Pinoy ‘WWWSK’ are Janice de Belen, Jake Cuenca, Angeline Quinto, Yves Flores, Gillian Vicencio, JC Alcantara, and Kaori Oinuma.
The upcoming adaptation would mark the third remake between ABS-CBN Studios and Viu as partners.
The first two projects they worked on together were ‘The Broken Marriage Vow,’ and ‘Flower of Evil,’ which both aired in 2022.
Their latest collaboration was the groundbreaking ABS-CBN and GMA co-production ‘Unbreak My Heart,’ which streamed in 16 countries and territories in Asia via Viu.
As for the original ‘WWWSK’ starring Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young, it is no stranger to Philippine telvision.
In 2018, ABS-CBN, then the leading television network in the country, aired the Filipino dub of the original Korean series on primetime. It was then re-aired on the Asianovela Channel until 2020.
Then, in 2022, erstwhile rival GMA Network picked-up the rights and aired the program on its main channel. Later on, it was re-aired on the Heart of Asia subchannel on digital free TV.
The Philippine adaptation of ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?’ is set to air via ABS-CBN platforms and Viu in March 2024.
