Alden Richards visits ‘It’s Showtime’ for the first time

‘Bulaga, Madlang People!’

‘Asia’s Multimedia Star’ and Kapuso actor Alden Richards is making his way to ABS-CBN’s long-running noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’ on Monday, December 4. The said episode marks the first time that the Kapuso star will be in the show.

Interestingly, Richards used to host of ‘Eat Bulaga,’ Showtime’s long-running rival noontime show airing on GMA, from 2015 to 2023. However, he had not returned to the said noontime show yet following the departure of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and the rest of the ‘Dabarkads’ in May.

A peculiar detail to this appearance is that Alden is also part of the history of ‘It’s Showtime’. This, as the program faced one of its stiffest competition in its early years, thanks to the AlDub phenomenon of Richards and Maine Mendoza in 2015.

In several instances in the past, Vice Ganda also regarded the phenomenon as the “lowest point” of the program.

Jumping back to the current times, Alden’s appearance on ‘It’s Showtime’ has been made possible by the airing of the show over at GMA’s sister channel GTV. Alden, himself, had also said in a past interview that he is open to appear on the Kapamilya noontime show now that it airs on the Kapuso channel.

Alden is also no stranger to ABS-CBN, as he had also been seen in several occasions on other Kapamilya projects. In 2019, he starred in the Star Cinema film ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ opposite Kathryn Bernardo.

Then, last October, he, along with Julia Montes, appeared in ‘Magandang Buhay’ and ‘ASAP Natin ‘To’ to promote their movie ‘Five Break-Ups and A Romance’.

‘It’s Showtime’ airs on GTV, A2Z, and other Kapamilya platforms from Monday to Saturday noon.
