‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ reportedly making comeback for seventh season

The rumor for a brand new season fired up after a teaser.

On Sunday, October 8, TV5 uploaded a still teaser on their social media accounts. In the said image, a large text containing the words “Paparating na ang Golden Buzzer.” [“The Golden Buzzer is arriving.”] Accompanying that is a caption that highlights the word “talent.”

This has led to the network’s followers believing that channel 5 will be bringing back popular franchised talent competition ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ for a seventh season.

Winding back, during TV5’s trade launch for its 2023 line-up late last year, it had already been confirmed that ‘PGT’ will be returning for season 7 this year. But the official airing date, as well as the auditions, remain under wraps.

Although, ever since that was released, ABS-CBN, which had served as the show’s local producer and broadcaster for the past six seasons, has not made any comment with regards to such.

For their part, the network has been actively posting “throwback” episodes from the last few seasons of the program through the official channels of ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ on Facebook and YouTube these past few months.

Licensed from content company Fremantle, the format made its way to the Philippines in 2010 and was originally hosted by Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford. The original panel of judges were formed by Kris Aquino, Ai-Ai delas Alas, and former ABS-CBN general manager Freddie M. Garcia.

It went to become a highly-successful program, producing acts like Jovit Baldivino, Marcelito Pomoy, to name a few.

It aired its last fresh season in 2018, the year when Kristel de Catallina was named champion. By then, Billy Crawford was joined by Toni Gonzaga, who had taken over the MC role from Luis Manzano, and with the panel already consisting of now-Senator Robin Padilla, Vice Ganda, Angel Locsin, and Freddie Garcia.

It remains to be seen when the new season will open its auditions, as well as the full details regarding its broadcast will be released.
