Sarah Geronimo, Ben&Ben, ALAMAT, The Dawn perform in 2023 FIBA World Cup opening ceremony

Top local acts will grace the opening ceremony of the basketball’s biggest event this year.

On Friday, August 25, the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup will have its opening ceremonies held at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

Featured as performers for the spectacle will be no other than the Popstar Royalty herself, Sarah Geronimo. She will return to the FIBA stage after her eccentric, yet controversial performance at the FIBA draw ceremony last April.

Geronimo will be joined in the roster by the popular Filipino band Ben&Ben, which is known for their hit songs ‘Maybe The Night,’ ‘Leaves,’ ‘Kathang Isip,’ among others.

One of the top P-pop groups ALAMAT will also be present. The six-piece group also recently relased their track ‘Walang Hanggan,’ which will be part of their upcoming extended play.

Capping the list is The Dawn, another popular local rock band in the Philippines.

The opening ceremonies will begin at 6:20 pm (Philippine time) on Friday. A live telecast will be aired through the One Sports channel on free-to-air television in the Philippines.

The said event will happen in between the matches of Angola v. Italy at 4:00 pm (Philippine time), while the awaited play of the national team Gilas Pilipinas against the Dominican Republic is due to begin at 8:00 pm (Philippine time).
