CNN Philippines’ YouTube channel terminated by YouTube
CNN Philippines’ YouTube channel became inaccessible on Monday after the said platform removed the account due to alleged ‘third-party copyright infringement claims’. As of press time, both CNN Philippines and YouTube’s parent firm Google have yet to comment on the matter. Moreover, the channel has yet to be restored late Monday evening.
CNN Philippines has been on the air for more than eight years now after Nine Media Corporation and then-Turner Broadcasting Company signed a deal for the localized version of Turner’s cable news channel CNN. Despite the YouTube problem, CNN Philippines remains on air on TV and on other platforms.
In an unrelated case, the ‘termination’ of the CNN Philippines YouTube channel happens a few days after the platform took down the channels owned and operated by the SMNI network of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. However, in SMNI’s case, Google said in the past that its decision was due to their compliance with US Sanctions laws, which relates to Quiboloy’s cases and outstanding warrant of arrest in the United States.
Amy Perez to make a rare appearance on ‘Unang Hirit’
Kapamilya host Amy Perez is making a rare guest appearance on the Kapuso morning show ‘Unang Hirit’ on Tuesday, July 18. Perez’s guesting on the said program is a rare feat on local television as she formerly served as a host for various morning shows on GMA’s rival stations TV5 and ABS-CBN. Most recently, she was an anchor for ABS-CBN TeleRadyo’s morning program ‘Sakto,’ until it ended its run last June 29.
Aside from ‘Unang Hirit,’ Tyang Amy first guested on the Monday episode of ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ on GMA-7. There, she talked about how noontime shows make her feel young and even her personal life and her family.
Tyang Amy’s appearance on GMA shows is part of the promotional activities for the airing of the Kapamilya noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’ on the Kapuso channel GTV. The simulcast of the show began last July 1.
John Lloyd Cruz’s GMA sitcom to end in August
In an announcement on Monday, GMA Network and Crown Artists Management jointly confirmed the end of John Lloyd Cruz’s Sunday sitcom ‘Happy ToGetHer’. Its final episode is set to air on August 6, 2023. However, GMA and Crown said that they “will still work on posssible collaborations, especially with the award-winning actor and Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz.”
‘Happy ToGetHer’ served as John Lloyd Cruz’s showbiz and TV comeback after 5 years of being in hiatus. The show began airing in December 2021, with its first season endimg late last year. Meanwhile, it was greenlit for a second season that began in January.
BGYO Gelo recovering after a freak accident at a recent concert
The leader of P-pop boy group BGYO, Gelo Rivera, is currently recovering after a freak accident that happened during a concert Sunday evening. According to concert-goers, Gelo and the rest of the group were greeting the fans after the concert when a confetti machine popped, eventually hitting his eye.
After the accident, Gelo went to the hospital. Upon consulting with a doctor, he assured his fans that he is fine and was advised by the doctor to rest for a few days.

Cignal to be the official broadcaster of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in PH

After months of uncertainty regarding the local coverage of the games, there will finally be a local broadcaster for the FIFA Women’s World Cup this year. This, as Cignal announced today that its One Sports channel on free and pay television, as well as the new Pilipinas Live over-the-top platform, will both serve as the local broadcast outlets of the FIFA WWC.
The coverage of the said games is important as this would mark the very first time that our national women’s football team will compete at the World Cup since the team was formed four decades ago. The FIFA Women’s World Cup is set to begin on July 20 and will be held in Australia and New Zealand.

National pole vaulter EJ Obiena yielded a gold medal after setting a new competition record at the Asian Athletics Championships 2023 by clearing 5.91 m. Obiena is also the first Filipino to earn a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
