‘Mawar’ inches its way closer to PAR
Super Typhoon ‘Mawar’ is continuing to make its way towards the Philippine Area of Responsibility. According to the latest report by local weather bureau PAGASA, the tropical cyclone was spotted 1475 km East of Central Luzon. It now packs winds of up to 205 kilometers per hour, with its gustiness hitting 250 kph. It moves west-northwestward at a speed of 25 kph.
Once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Saturday morning, it will be given the name ‘Betty.’ Officially becoming the second cyclone to enter PAR this year, and so far, also the strongest.
It is expected to make a close call on the Philippine landmass, particularly in the extreme North Luzon area — near Batanes, Cagayan Valley, and the Ilocos provinces. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals are expected to be raised by PAGASA in these areas on Saturday.
As for the rainy days in areas like Metro Manila this week, PAGASA says that those were caused by localized thunderstorms and the Southwesternly Wind Flow. The said wind flow will continue to bring in light to moderate showers on Metro Manila this weekend.

Meanwhile, during his stay in the country, Filipino political figure and owner of LCS Group of Companies, Chavit Singson has revealed that he has teamed-up with Lee Seung Gi, among other partners, for a project in Quezon City. The said will see parts of the Metrowalk establishment converted to a place called ‘Little Seoul.’ Singson said that it will take up to 3 years for it to be completed.
While that is ongoing, Singson also plans to produce a film for Lee, with him starring alongside local actors. Perhaps, the good news for Lee Seung Gi’s Pinoy fans is that the actor will visit the Philippines quite often due to these commitments.
