That quip by Kabayan Noli de Castro made the newscast’s extro go all over the place.
During the February 28 edition of TV Patrol, ABS-CBN’s flagship newscast, it reported the recent trending of BGYO member Gelo Rivera because of his 2×2 picture. While that is already fun sight to begin with, the subsequent events made things even funnier.

While Star Patroller Gretchen Fullido was reading the report, TV Patrol anchor Noli de Castro was heard in the background, saying “mas cute pa si Henry dito,” referring to his co-anchor Henry Omaga-Diaz.
Once Fullido finished reading her spiels and the VTR interview featuring BGYO, the camera panned back to the four-anchor-team. Visibly, all of them were trying to stop themselves from bursting out their laughters, only to hilariously fail , leading to a laughing fit between all of them that lasted the entire extro.
Karen Davila, who is the first to state her extro statement “‘yan ang mga balitang binantayan namin para sa inyo,” was struggling to finish her sentence.
After her, Bernadette Sembrano who usually says the line “nandito kami para sa inyo, saan man sa mundo,” also could not hide her laughter while delivering the extro spiel.
And things completely broke down once it was Henry Omaga-Diaz’s turn already. Of his line “anumang hamon, anumang panahon, tapat kaming maglilingkod,” he was only able to say out the first part before completely bursting out his laughter.
During that part, Kabayan was seen wiping off his tears.
But once it was already his part, he closed the show in his usual manner as if nothing happened just before him.
That clip, which was posted by a certain @walkingnozomi on Twitter has since reached more than 50,000 likes and 621,000 views, as of March 1.

But mind you, this is not the first time TV Patrol had ended with a light moment. Some of the recent ones include the anchors catching up with the TikTok trend that is dancing the steps of NewJeans’ ‘Hype Boy’ to Nadine Lustre’s ‘Paligoy-ligoy’.
Another one was the time when Karen Davila topped off a report on the then-upcoming premiere of ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’.
These funny clips at the end of some TV Patrol episodes are proof that sometimes, we all have to take the backseat and destress ourselves. For the anchors, reporting daily on events, that include unavoidable stories on tragedies, a light way of closing the show can help them, and the viewers as well, cope with the realities of this world.
