TV5 tries morning news anew via Frontline sa Umaga

After more than three years without a station-produced morning show.

TV5 is back in the morning TV news game as the News5 officially announced today the upcoming launch of ‘Frontline sa Umaga‘. The show, which will begin on Monday, May 10, 2021, will run for thirty minutes. Onboard to anchor the program is a returning Kapatid newscaster, Paolo Bediones.

Prior to this, Bediones was one of the original anchors of TV5’s previous flagship news program Aksyon from 2010 until 2011, together with Cheryl Cosim and later, Erwin Tulfo. He later anchored Aksyon Journalismo, Pilipinas News, and Aksyon Tonite. Apart from those, he also hosted the revival of Astig in 2013 and Demolition Job. However, when he was figured in scandal in 2014, he quietly left his shows and ultimately the network.

Coincidentally, Bediones also co-anchored TV5’s previous morning show attempts in Sapul sa Singko and Good Morning Club.

After the cancellation of Good Morning Club in 2014, TV5 tried one more time via Aksyon sa Umaga. The program ran for three years until 2017, and the Kapatid network later filled its vacated slot with sports, children’s-oriented shows, teleshopping block, and even a repeat of Aksyon’s primetime edition.

It was only in October last year when a de-facto morning program was aired on the station via a simulcast of Ted Failon DJ Chacha sa Radyo5. The show was quietly removed from channel 5’s lineup in February 2021 in favor of an expanded TV5 Kids (later TodoMax Kids) block.

Frontline sa Umaga will air weekdays at 6:00am starting May 10 on TV5.
