TV5 is going “todomax” as they deliver new shows and experiences to Kapatid viewers.
Last March 5, TV5, Cignal TV, and ABS-CBN Entertainment jointly released a statement on the launch of four Kapamilya shows on channel 5’s primetime. Those shows are namely FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin, Walang Hanggang Paalam, and Pinoy Big Brother Connect. After which, the Kapatid network has also unveiled a brand new campaign to capitalize on this era: TV5 TodoMax.
Apart from ABS-CBN shows, the network is also set to debut Cignal-produced and collaborations like The Wall Philippines, 1000 Heartbeats: Pintig Pinoy, the revival of Sing Galing, and Maja Salvador’s new teleserye titled Niña Niño.
In this edition of Schedule Suggestions, we’ll take a look at potential changes that TV5 could entertain with their new programming strategy.

With the current programming schedule that TV5 has released on their social media and website, they have decided to condense their three primetime foreign dramas to the hour between 10:30pm and 11:30pm. Effectively (and dramtically) cutting the airtime of those shows to only 20 minutes each.
Rather than doing that, TV5 could move some of their morning and afternoon shows. For one, Maria Mercedes could be moved to 10:00am and break the monotony created by the expanded TV5 Kids block. Its afternoon pair that is The Loyal Wife could then be moved down to 4:00pm and have Tierra de Reyes moved from the dreaded 11:10 slot to 4:30pm.
But there’s an elephant in the room that needs to be addressed: how would TV5 TodoMax primetime look like once the PBA returns to action (hypothetically in April). Well, the answer could become like this.
5:00am – Religious programs
6:00am – TV5 Kids block
10:30am – Idol in Action
12:00nn – Lunch Out Loud
2:00pm – Maria Mercedes
2:30pm – The Loyal Wife
3:00pm – Betty sa NY
3:30pm – Tierra de Reyes
4:00pm – The Beauty Inside
4:30pm – Fill in the Bank (Mon-Wed-Fri) / Bawal na Gameshow (Tue-Thu)
5:30pm – Sing Galing (expected to become daily)
6:30pm – Frontline Pilipinas
7:30pm – Paano ang Pangako? / Niña Niño (teased to begin airing on April 12)
8:00pm – FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano
8:40pm – Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin
9:20pm – Walang Hanggang Paalam
10:00pm – Count Your Lucky Stars
10:30pm – Lifetime Originals (Monday) / TVflix (Tuesday) / SineAsya (Thursday) / PBA delayed telecast (Wednesday and Friday)
12:30am – Religious shows (Mon-Tue-Thu, until 1:30am) / PBA delayed telecast (Wednesday and Friday, until 2:30am)
With ABS-CBN taking over slots that PBA used to occupy, the management could opt putting the games on a delayed basis on TV5, while letting One Sports air the games live. In this case, slots from 10:30pm onwards could be freed up and let the games air there. Meanwhile, during non-playdates, movie blocks from the afternoons could be moved to late nights.
Regarding the foreign dramas currently airing on the slot, the three dramas could move to afternoons. That way, they would also he able to air consistently on the same timeslot, five times a week. It would also help the weeknight schedule decompress, while putting some weight to the afternoons.
It is imperative that the launch of more Kapamilya shows in the station, viewers left unreachable by the former giant will regain access to their favorite shows thanks to TV5. Thus, the Kapatid network must also take advantage of the situation and make necessary changes to improve upon its existing lineup.
