Kapamilya plus Kapatid equals Kamag-anak?
On January 21, 2021, ABS-CBN and TV5 jointly released an official statement confirming the recent rumors of a brewing partnership between the two giants. The latter, in conjunction with Brightlight Productions and Cignal TV, will be simulcasting ASAP Natin ‘To and FPJ: Da King from the former’s Kapamilya Channel.
Both programs will air from 12:00nn until 4:00p.m., replacing three shows previously produced by Brightlight on Sunday afternoons. The company, however, will remain involved in the three-way deal and keep their slots elsewhere in the schedule.
The partnership between ABS and Five sets another milestone for the two networks. The Kapamilya network, for their part, would regain free TV access to several areas in Visayas and Mindanao – places where A2Z currently has none. For the Kapatid network, meanwhile, it would be a boost for them as their last Sunday noontime program – Sunday Noontime Live – was canceled just last week due to low ratings and weak advertisement load.
The said cancelation since led to a widespread rumor regarding the possible carriage of ABS-CBN produced shows on TV5’s Sunday afternoon lineup.
In spite of this development, A2Z Channel 11, Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and Jeepney TV will continue to air ASAP Natin ‘To.
