NC-double-A is now on DZ-double-B.
On November 20, 2020, the National Collegiate Atheltic Association (NCAA) and GMA Network formally announced their broadcast partnership.
Under the said deal, GMA will be airing major NCAA games in athletics, aquatics, volleyball, and basketball on GMA News TV. Meanwhile, the league’s men’s basketball championship will air on the mothership channel 7. Radio GMA will also join the fun as they will also broadcast the league on radio.
The games will also be available online via GMA Network’s website. Abroad, GMA Pinoy TV will be home to NCAA games.
The broadcast partnership will run for five-and-a-half years or until 2026.
Prior to the announcement, publicly disclosed bidders for the league’s broadcast were GMA and TV5 – which served as the home of NCAA between 2011 and 2015. CNN Philippines was also said to have sent ‘feelers’, but subsequently backed out.
Previously, NCAA had a 10 year deal signed in 2015 with the Kapamilya network. It was aired on ABS-CBN’s platforms like S+A on channel 23, Liga on Sky Cable, iWant, and YouTube, among others. However, due to the May 5 shutdown of the network, all of its properties that include the likes of UAAP, PVL, MPBL, ABL, and the NCAA were left without a free TV broadcaster.
