Both ABS-CBN News’ namesake and ANC 24/7 channels are affected by this development.
On November 3, a notice on the Kapamilya network’s news channel surprised many of its loyal following. A line displaying “this channel has been terminated” greeted viewers. Over at ANC (ABS-CBN News Channel), its own YT channel has since become totally undetected as of press time.
Hours later, ABS-CBN issued a statement regarding the matter. The nework said that they have since reached out to YouTube regarding the matter and are internally conducting an investigation regarding the incident. Viewers, meanwhile, are redirected to the TeleRadyo YouTube channel for the livestreaming of ABS-CBN News programs.
On the other hand, Google/YouTube Philippines are yet to comment on the issue.
This is the second huge blow for ABS-CBN News in the digital space this year. Exactly two months ago, their main website became down together with GMA News Online. Revenues from by the two channels are also expected to decrease due to this shutdown of sorts.
As of publication, the ABS-CBN Entertainment and ABS-CBN Sports channels remain in operation. The former of which also serves as the main platform for Kapamilya Online Live that livestreams popular entertainment programs and newscasts TV Patrol and The World Tonight.
UPDATE: YouTube has confirmed that both channels were hacked. Both ABS-CBN News and ANC 24/7 channels were fully restored past 4:00p.m. on November 3.
