The supposed rebranding of TV5 this July 20 will no longer push through.
According to an article published by the Philippine Entertainment Portal, the scrapping of the TV5 brand will no longer come into fruition, if their insider was to be believed. The said informant also shared that the management of the network decided to not let One TV materialize as it will confuse an average viewer especially that the network’s primary station is on channel 5.
A simple check on their Facebook page and the promo video dubbed by News5 reporter Laila Pangilinan is nowehere to be found. The same goes with their Twitter account.
But, the Kapatid network will not rest on its laurels despite cancelling the supposed big change. Instead, the channel is also rumored to replace the simplistic, yet dull ‘5’ logo that’s in use ever since January of last year. Adding more hype to the impending relaunch will be new shows (just a little side note, some were even contracted to be on One TV).
The first on the list is the first BL (boy love) series on Philippine television. Titled as “My Extraordinary”, the drama will feature upcoming actors Enzo Santiago and Darwin Yu. It will be produced by Askterisk Digital Entertainment.
Also in the lineup is a new talk show with News5 chief Luchi Cruz-Valdes billed as “Usapang Real Life” and is planned to start airing this August.
The #1 talent show will also be back with its original host. Talentadong Pinoy, one of TV5’s weekend stalwarts, will be reborn as “Bangon Talentadong Pinoy” with Ryan Agoncillo once again at helm.
But, the biggest of these upcoming shows is the comeback of the country’s Queen of All Media, Kris Aquino. Four years since her last regular TV show ended, the Queen of Talk — as what she’s also referred to — will be gracing the tube once again with “Love Life With Kris”. Airing as a blocktimer, it is (or was prematurely announced, rather) to start airing this July 25 and Saturday thereafter at 5:00 pm. TV5 is yet to release further information, such as teasers and a complete lineup of shows for this impending reprogramming of the station.
UPDATE: As of July 14, 2020, Kris Aquino’s program has been either axed or postponed by the management of the network.
