Since July last year, GMA Regional TV is producing its own national program on GMA News TV. Titled as GMA Regional TV Weekend News, it is currently the first and only English-language newscast on GNTV. For a brief stint, it also aired on the mothership GMA during the height of the quarantine measures in March 2020. By May, RTVWS returned to its original home for a brand new season.
As a follow up to that, GMA News TV has also stripped RTV’s newscast in the regions on its primetime schedule beginning last Monday, May 18, 2020.
The Regional TV News strip is airing every weeknight on GNTV at 9:45pm. The lineup consists of the current RTV programs in production: Balitang Amianan (Monday), Balitang Bisdak (Tuesday), One Western Visayas (Wednesday), One Mindanao (Thursday), and Regional TV Live (Friday).
These 5 programs are airing the same episode that they have aired on the same day as their air date on News TV.
The broadcast of these shows will also help solidify GNTV’s reputation as a reliable free-to-air news channel as they (seem to) have moved on from airing several entertainment programs since the lockdown measures started in mid-March.
The GMA Regional TV News strip airs every weeknight at 9:45 p.m. on GMA News TV.
