Jack TV will no longer be on TV.
On April 1, Solar Entertainment has shut one of their channels again. This time, the casualty is Jack TV.
Launched in 2005, Jack predominantly carried imported programs, mainly from the US. Most notable of which is the ‘Survivor’ series, which also had a season shot in Caramoan island in the Philippines.
Jack TV also carried talk shows like ‘TMZ’ and ‘The Late Night Show Starring Jay Leno’.
The closure of Jack TV follows a recent trend among Solar channels, which had either shut down or had its agreement with another partner ended. Among those were Zee Sine, MTVph, NBA Premium TV, and Basketball TV.
For Filipino ‘Survivor’ fans, you’ll still be able to catch the latest developements of the castaways via the Solar Sports channel. As for other Jack TV programs, we are still waiting for announcements whether they will be carried on either ETC or Solar Sports.
But Jack TV as a brand will not be missed entirely. On the same day of their closure as a cable channel, Solar ‘relaunched’ Jack as a digital brand, which will cover news on pop culture and the local music scene.
Well, as it seems, we are not going to say “farewell” here. Instead, we’ll say “bon voyage” as Jack TV takes on a different route.
