She is still in the competition.

On Thursday, November 5, Filipina tennis star Alex Eala met her toughest opposition in the ongoing Hong Kong Open.

This, as the second seeded player in the Wta 250 tournament, met Czechia’s Tereza Valentova anew after their previous toss-up in Doha earlier in the year.

While Alex had a strong start by scoring a 3-0 lead, that was eroded by Tereza, who later tied the match to a 4-all. However, Eala was able to keeo her pace and secured a win in the opening set.

Although, the second set proved to be a much tougher ride, with Valentova, world no. 81,  challenging Eala’s, world no. 17, dominance even further and resulted in the necessity of a tiebreak between them.

Eventually, Eala was able to secure victory and the final scoreline was 6-4, 7-6(7). She has also set herself a game against Croatia’s Antonia Ružić in the quarterfinals on Friday, November 6.

Hong Kong is set to be Eala’s last stop in Asia and the current WTA season. This year, she made strides by winning two trophies at the DC Open and Birmingham Open.

Moreover, she also made historic feats at two Grand Slam events, which are the Wimbledon Championships in the United Kingdom and the US Open.
