A new album that declares not settling in a relationship where one is left at a loss.
On Monday, October 26, Korean pop girl group ILLIT unveiled their fifth mini-album entitled Break Even.
According to their parent label, BELIFT LAB, the record captures ILLIT’s “candid declaration that they will no longer invest their heart and time in relationships that fail to give back what they have put into them.”
“Leaving behind the feelings they once directed toward ‘you,’ ILLIT delivers a bold warning to someone who has remained lukewarm and indifferent: they will no longer keep the relationship going,” they added in a previous statement.
The company also noted that the song is based on the idea of a “break-even point,” and “embodies a resolution to no longer remain in a relationship that leaves one at a loss simply because one feels that the time and emotions already invested would be too precious to let go.”
The extended play has a total of four songs, with the single You’re Under Arrest serving as its lead single.
Concurrent with the album, the official music video, which runs for three minutes and nine seconds, was also published onto YouTube—where it has already amassed more than 5.3 million views as of this writing.
The five-member team is composed of Yunah, Minji, Moka, Wonhee, Iroha, and is under the management of Belift Lab, which is also home to their senior group, the boy band ENHYPEN.
The girl group was formed through the survival-reality show R U Next? that was aired between June and September 2023.
Over a half a year later, in March 2024, the team went on to make their debut with the release of their extended play entitled Super Real Me, which features their viral hit debut song Magnetic.
Since then, they have dropped Singles like Cherish (My Love), Do The Dance, Jellyous, and Not Cute Anymore.
