The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has committed to keeping basic commodity prices stable this Christmas season.
According to a statement issued by the DTI on Monday, October 26, it assured consumers that prices for its supervised Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) will remain stable and there shall be no price increases for items on their official monitoring list until December 31, 2026.
This price commitment covers the list of essential food and non-food items included in the official Suggested Retail Price (SRP) bulletin managed by the department, which covers 190 SKUs/products under its monitoring.
The list can be accessed through the DTI’s official website and social media pages, as wrll as in-store posters.
“We assure the public that manufacturers and retailers have guaranteed enough supply for these listed products. There is no need for panic buying or hoarding,” said Trade Secretary Roque, who issued this amid public concerns over the possible impact of El Niño on prices and the availability of essential goods.
They also assured close coordination with manufacturers and retailers to monitor inventories, maintain steady deliveries and keep DTI-covered essential goods accessible at stable prices across grocery stores and supermarkets nationwide.
Meanwhile, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said on Tuesday: “Ang DTI ay nangako na walang pagtaas itong darating na Pasko sa mga prime commodities, mga basic needs natin, iyong supply ng fuel ay hindi mapuputol, tuluy-tuloy pa rin,” Castro said.
She also assured the public that fuel supplies would remain uninterrupted even as global oil prices continue to fluctuate due to geopolitical tensions.
