A positive result as she looks to cap the season on a high note.
On Monday, October 26, Filipina tennis star Alex Eala returned to action at the Center Court at Ariake Coliseum for the Pan Pacific Open, which happens in Tokyo, Japan.
There, the current world no. 20, who is also seeded no. 8 in the said WTA 500 tournament, took on the challenge by world no. 308 Mika Stojsavljevic from the Great Britain, whom Alex is facing on tour for the first time.
Right off the bat, the Filipina netter has already made a strong impression as she had a superb run of five consecutive wins in the first set, before the British competitor was able to score a game. However, she clung on to that lead and secured the win in the opener.
In the second set, Stojsavljevic attempted to break Eala’s momentum. While the former was able to inch closer to the latter, she was unable to stop her momentum and in the end, the scoreline read 6-1, 6-2, in favor of Alex.
Following Monday’s victory, the Filipina tennis star will play against Australian Talia Gibson in the Round of 16, which will happen on Wednesday, October 28.
