Streaming giant Netflix has announced that the upcoming series Tantara will be making its premiere this December.

The said series brings together a star-studded cast led by Song Hye-kyo, Gong Yoo, Kim Seol-hyun, and Cha Seung-won.

According to the streaming platform, the story is set against the gritty and intense backdrop of the Korean entertainment industry from the 1960s to the 1980s.

“The series follows individuals who, despite having little, dreamed of glittering success and gave their all to achieve it,” it added.

Song Hye Kyo stars as Min-ja, who enters the music business after surviving an impoverished childhood in which she took on any job to endure.

Meanwhile, Gong Yoo is Dong-gu, who is her childhood friend who always fights alongside her to protect her dreams.

Joining them are Kim Seol-hyun as Min-hui, who is a bold talent with a captivating voice who becomes their very first artist.

Meanwhile, Cha Seung-won is Seok Gil-yeo, who is the era’s top hitmaker, capable of turning rookies into megastars.

The said project is written by Noh Hee-gyoung — who is behind Our Blues, It’s Okay, That’s Love — and director Lee Yoon-jung of The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince.

Tantara premieres December 11 (Friday) on Netflix.
