Over a month since it was fused into the flagship newscast.
On Monday, October 19, TV5 viewers witnessed a tweaked afternoon to early-evening block of the network, which started with the premiere of the afternoon series Mommy Guard with Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal.
Following the changes that were implemented in early September, the Kapatid network had shaken up its programming grid anew and reformatted its evening news slot once more.
Just a month after the incorporation of the political news and analysis program Una Sa Lahat into Frontline Pilipinas, they were made separate entities anew.
Effective on the said date, the Jiggy Manicad-anchored newscast reverted to being the pre-programming of the flagship show presented by Cheryl Cosim and Julius Babao — a format that it had since its launch in May 2025 until September 2026.
Una Sa Lahat, which now airs at 6:00 pm, also restored its 30-minute format, an expansion from its 15- to 20-minute-long run as a lead-in segment of Frontline Pilipinas from September 7 until October 16.
Notably, this also places USL in direct competition with GTV’s Usap-Usapan: What We Know So Far, which has been airing since September 14, before the 24 Oras simulcast on the channel.
Meanwhile, Frontline Pilipinas kept its 90-minute-long format from the September revamp, with the Cosim-Babao tandem now coming in at 6:30 pm, in contrast to the 6:50 pm start time in the past month.
The restructured evening news belt comes days after TV5’s news organization was also rebranded on air as TV5 News, dropping its long-time moniker as News5 that had been in use since 2010.
Other newscasts within the organization were not affected by the latest shake-up in evening block.
Una Sa Lahat with Jiggy Manicad kicks off the two-hour news block at 6:00 pm, while the flagship newscast Frontline Pilipinas with Cheryl Cosim and Julius Babao takes over at 6:30 pm on TV5.
