“Ikaw, anong klaseng tao ka?” (“What kind of person are you?”)
That is the question posed by the 52nd Metro Manila Film Festival entry Los Salvajes Bravos by Paolo Dy, who also co-wrote it with Juan Ekis.
The flick, which is top-billed by award-winning actors Romnick Sarmenta and Ruru Madrid, will tackle one of the darkest moments in the country’s history.
Specifically when a group of native Filipinos from Ifugao were exhibited at the Philippine Exposition in Madrid, Spain in 1887, a decade before the country’s eventual declaration of independence from the colonizers.
On Tuesday, October 20, the team unveiled the trailer for the movie, which also stars Andreas Muñoz, Michael De Mesa, Christian Vasquez, Jojit Lorenzo, Arnold Reyes, Elora Españo, Paolo O’Hara and Javier Godino.
“Araw-araw, lahat tayo ay humaharap sa mga sitwasyong sumusubok sa ating pagkatao. Tulad noong 1887 sa Madrid, Espanya, isang grupo ng mga katutubong Filipino ang nakipagsapalaran at humarap sa mga karanasang sumubok sa kanilang tibay ng loob, dangal, at higit sa lahat, pagkatao,” noted the team in the said trailer.
The film, under Jesuit Communications, will open in theaters, alongside the seven other entries in the upcoming MMFF, this December 25.
