The Filipina tennis star has successfully returned to her winning ways.
On Monday, October 19, Filipina tennis star Alex Eala returned to action in China as she participated at the Ningbo Open.
There, she faces Frenchwoman Diane Perry for the first time at the ongoing WTA Tour, with Eala having the upper hand as the higher-ranked player at no. 20, with the latter currently at no. 34.
During the play, Alex immediately showed off her burning desire to win the match as she was able to secure the first round, despite opposition from Diane.
That momentum was carried by the Pinay in the second set, with her French opponent only able to muster one point in the said round before the Asian Games 2026 bronze medalist finished it off with a win.
The final scoreline was 6-3, 6-1.
This effectively ended Eala’s losing streak in Asia, which started with her campaign at the Singapore Open before the Asiad, where she bowed out of contention right after her shocking lost in the first match against Tatiana Prozorova.
She would also later face another heavy loss when she had to make an early exit from Wuhan after failing to advance in both the singles and doubles events.
Back to Ningbo, Alex is set to face Russian Diana Shnaider anew on Thursday, October 22.
