Following the recent attacks by Houthi forces on the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Filipino carriers Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific (CEB) have made their respective decisions to temporarily suspend their operations to and from the Middle Eastern city.

In their respective advisories on Tuesday, October 13, both cited the conditions as the reason for the suspension of their services.

The country’s flag carrier noted, “Philippine Airlines flights to and from Riyadh remain suspended until November 29, 2026, due to the evolving security situation at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport.”

“PAL continues to closely monitor developments and assess conditions affecting the safe operation of its flights. Further updates will be provided as necessary,” it furthered.

Meanwhile, CEB noted that it continues to “closely monitor and assess developments in the Middle East amid the escalating security situation in the region.”

“The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain our priority,” it said, stating that it has taken canceled flights to and from Riyadh scheduled until October 31, 2026.

Affected passengers have since been informed via email and provided with options through the Manage Booking portal on the CEB website, such as free rebooking within 30 days with no fare difference (with the difference taking effect for flights beyond 30 days), storing the amount of their tickets to a virtual wallet called Travel Fund, or request a full refund.

In addition to that, they arr also providing flexible options, including free rebooking and Travel Fund conversion, to passengers who wish to postpone their flights to and from Riyadh scheduled until November 30, 2026, which can be availed up to two (2) hours before their scheduled time of departure.

Due to this being a developing situation, “further schedule adjustments may be necessary,” it said, encouraging passengers to send their flight status portal, ensure their contact details are updated to receive notifications, and visit their social media pages.
