Beating their fellow participants in the inaugural season of the program.
After five weeks, on Thursday, October 8, the final two episodes of Singaporean broadcaster Mediacorp’s regional reality dating show Wingman dropped on the streaming service mewatch and the Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube channel.
The show is hosted by radio personality Germaine Tan and it brought together eight singles and their best friends — who were designated as their wingman — from across Southeast Asia.
Across a total of 12 episodes, wingmen and their single best friends competed in challenges to earn dating opportunities with different twists throughout its run that allowed contestants to pursue romantic connections.
In the eleventh episode, the final two pairs heading to the finale were determined by the wingmen. L.A Aguinaldo and Frayya Waranit, and Marco Gallo and Yuki Chong were named the couples with the chance at getting the title of the first winners of the show, while Josh and Gigi were eliminated on their final day at the villa.
Eventually, a cross-border love story that won out of the connections that formed during the show is the one between Filipino actor and model L.A. Aguinaldo, 33, and Thai actress Frayya, 23, as they were named “Winning Couple” after the final vote cast by the show’s contestants and finale guests Sherrin and Yixi, a content creator duo.
L.A AND FRAYYA’S ROAD TO FINALE
L.A was drawn to Frayya from the outset, although theirs was not the only connection she explored in the villa.
Frayya also went on dates with Tyler and Marco before her relationship with L.A began to take shape.
One of their early arguments was L.A’s jealousy during a dating challenge led to their first real disagreement and left Frayya in tears. But the pair worked through it, and candid conversations brought them closer.
On subsequent dates, L.A was able to confront his fear of heights alongside Frayya and opened up about his parents’ separation and his hopes of one day building a family of his own.
He even hand-wrote her a letter ending with a line in Thai: “Wherever there’s your smile, that’s my home,” which Frayya appreciated so much that it brought her to tears.
She later said she trusted him more than people she had known for years.
By the finale, both were clear that what they had found mattered more than the result itself.
Even before the final vote, Frayya said she already felt like she was winning: “I’ll be walking out of here today with hopefully the love of my life.”
L.A also described meeting her as “priceless” and something that could never be replicated, while crediting their willingness to be vulnerable with each other for bringing them together.
The model-content creator also shared in Trendrod‘s exclusive interview recently, “Her (Frayya) eyes definitely caught my attention at the very beginning, but what truly made me appreciate her is the way she makes those around her feel. She is very caring.”
Their relationship ultimately won the backing of the villa – and the SGD 20,000 prize for the winning couple.
MARCO AND YUKI’S UNEXPECTED CONNECTION
Meanwhile, their fellow finalists, Filipino actor-midel Marco Gallo, 25, and Singapore-based marketing director Yuki Chong, 25, also had one of the season’s more unexpected romantic journeys.
Yuki entered the villa as her best friend Olivia’s wingman, but was later voted into the Singles pool alongside Josh.
But even before that, she already confesser her feelings for Marco, telling him he was the only person in the villa who gave her butterflies. But, for Marco, he admitted privately at the time that he did not feel the same way.
Although, his feelings eventually changed. After two dates, Marco came to describe Yuki as the person in the villa he could most see a future with, saying that meeting her reminded him that “there’s genuine kindness in people” and made him realise not everyone was trying to take advantage of him.
Moreover, he singled out how real she was, which is the quality he valued most in her, while those around him noticed a change too.
Marco’s wingman, Lorenzo Isip, 26, also remarked that it was the first time he had seen Marco truly open up to a woman.
By the finale, both were candid about wanting to give the relationship a chance beyond the show.
“I want this to work out. Let’s see where fate brings us,” Yuki told Marco, adding that regardless of where they eventually end up.
“Gusto kita,” she said to him in Filipino, while Marco reciprocated the sentiment and adsed, “At least what we had was real, and we hope it keeps going that way.”
Prior to the finale, Trendrod also spoke with Marco in another exclusive interview, and he said that his only game plan entering into the series is being authentic.
“Like I said in the show, ‘honesty is the best policy.’ So, while I was inside, I tried to show who I was,” he said to us.
A DOUBLE WIN FOR LORENZO
Despite the finale result for the Marco-Yuki tandem, his wingman Lorenzo was voted as the “Winning Wingman”, earning a SGD 10,000 cash prize for having his single best friend’s back through the show’s challenges and twists.
He had entered the villa with a promise to Marco: to help his best friend open up again, build a relationship and find happiness and by the finale, Marco had done just that with Yuki.
But beyond the title and cash prize, Lorenzo scored another win. As after entering the villa, he unexpectedly developed a romantic connection with Frayya’s wingman, UL Ramita, 21.
“I was just happy to come to this show to help my friend – and to unexpectedly find the love of my life as well,” he reflected on his journey in this show.
Reflecting on Marco’s journey, he added: “I just wanted to help him to be happy again – and I guess I did good.”
In Trendrod‘s prior interview with Marco, he also shared how his partnership with Lorenzo for the show came to happen.
“Lorenzo is part of my group of friends, and honestly we are all best friends, but Lorenzo was the only one available at that time, so we happened to go together!” he said to us.
Wingman is produced by Beach House Pictures. The group was selected following an open casting call in December 2025, with filming taking place in May 2026.
The format originated from the winning concept at Mediacorp’s Unscripted Formats Pitch, Creatives Assembly 2023.
All 12 episodes of Wingman are available for free on mewatch and the Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube channel.
