A star-studded adaptation is coming fans’ way.
On Wednesday, October 7, streaming platform Netflix announced more cast members of the upcoming live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling, which is based on a Korean web novel and later, a webtoon, that became a global phenomenon.
Joining Byeon Woo-seok, who will portray Sung Jin-woo in the lead of the upcoming series, are Han So-hee, Kang You-seok, Sung Joon, Lee Sung-min and Jung Ji-hoon.
Han So-hee will play Cha Hae-in, the sole female S-ranker, a fierce biker who wields a longsword.
Kang You-seok takes on Yoo Jinho, a C-rank Hunter and the second son of the Yoojin Group conglomerate family, who comes to look up to Sung Jin-woo like an older brother after teaming up with him on a dungeon quest.
The live-action adaptation follows Sung Jin-woo as he faces deadly challenges, awakens his full potential, and rises from the weakest Hunter to the world’s most powerful in his quest to protect humanity from the monsters lurking beyond mysterious gates.
Sung Joon is Woo Jinchul, who is an A-rank Hunter and Chief Inspector of the Korean Hunters Association’s Surveillance Team, who monitors Hunters and is the first to suspect that Sung Jin-woo may have awoken to his powers.
Lee Sung-min will also make a special appearance as Go Gunhee, a retired top-tier Hunter and Chairman of the Korean Hunters Association, which oversees Hunters’ guilds, manages all Hunters across Korea and holds the authority to mobilize Hunters in times of crisis.
Jung Ji-hoon is also booked for a special appearance as Baek Yoonho, who is an S-rank Hunter with the ability to transform into a beast and the head of the White Tiger Guild, the second-ranked of the five major Hunter guilds.
Previously, it was confirmed that Byeon portraying Sung Jin-woo, who is considered to be an E-rank Hunter, which is the lowest tier.
He will gain extraordinary abilities and as he levels up, he becomes humanity’s unexpected hope, defending against monstrous threats emerging from beyond the mysterious Gates.
Solo Leveling consistently ranked first on KakaoPage, a web novel platform in South Korea, and has over 14.3 billion views globally.
Han Dong-wook will serve as thebco-director of Solo Leveling, which is produced by SANAI PICTURES and Kakao Entertainment for streaming giant Netflix.
