The “Golden Boy of Philippine Sports” was presented a copy of the resolution filed by the lawmaker to celebrate his recent back-to-back wins.
On Tuesday, October 6, Filipino gymnastics icon Carlos Yulo headed to the Senate Building in Pasay City to meet with Senator Bam Aquino.
According to the Senator’s office, Yulo was there to get his copy of Senate Resolution No. 689, which the lawmaker filed back on tcSeptember 30, to celebrate the 26-year-old’s successful wins at the Asian Games 2026, where he clinched gold medals in the men’s floor exercise and men’s vault final events.
Aquino’s office also said that the visit also enabled the two to discuss matters important to the sporting community in the country, such as support in training and presenting opportunities for former athletes and coaches.
It was also said that their discussion went as far as discussing the shortage of physical therapists for our athletes and the importance of mental health support.
“We have so many world-class Filipino athletes. The challenge before us is to establish a system that supports them—from their initial training and throughout their time competing for the country, right up to the next stages of their careers,” said Senator Aquino.
The lawmaker also said that there is a plan for his office to file a bill that will further strengthen support for Filipino athletes and coaches
“Congratulations again, Caloy! Thank you so much for the honor you continue to bring to the Philippines,” Aquino said to Yulo.
Meanwhile, in a post on his Facebook page, Carlos shared: “Para sa Atletang Pilipino! Maraming salamat po Sen Bam Aquino 🥇🤝🏻🇵🇭”
Beyond recognizing Carlos’ victory, Aquino also filed a separate resolution commending the 447-strong Philippine delegation and all Filipino medalists who competed in the 20th Asian Games.
He lauded the Philippine team for bringing home 29 medals-four golds, nine silvers, and 16 bronzes-across various sports during the event, which is the country’s biggest since the Philippines garnered 42 medals in the 1966 edition of the Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
