He will be in the city island-state for five days.
On Tuesday, October 6, the Malacañan Palace announced that President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. is embarking on a five-day working visit to Singapore from October 7 to 11, 2026.
According to the Palace, he will depart on Wednesday for a visit that is aimed at “deepening the country’s ties with its Southeast Asian neighbor, expanding economic engagement, and advancing cooperation in sectors vital to the nation’s development.”
Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Analyn Ratonel noted that the visit is at the invitation of Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong.
“Mahalaga rin ang pagkakataong ito, dahil sa nalalapit na pagtatapos ng tungkulin ng Pilipinas bilang ASEAN Chair, at pagsisimula naman ng Singapore sa tungkuling nito sa susunod na taon,” Ratonel added.
President Marcos is chairing the 2026 ASEAN Summit under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together.” The President will lead the 49th ASEAN Summit scheduled for November 16 to 18, 2026, in Manila.
The Palace confirmed that the President will engage in discussions with Prime Minister Wong regarding the bilateral cooperation between the Philippines and Singapore, as well as regional developments.
Marcos is also expected to attend the 24th Forbes Global CEO Conference, where he will engage with Singaporean and global business leaders and have a tour of the Singapore Nuclear Research and Safety Institute to learn about Singapore’s experience and expertise in nuclear technology and safety.
Separately, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said that the President also received an invitation to attend the upcoming Formula One (F1) Night Race, which will take place from October 9 to 11.
Although, she did not make any confirmations if he will be attending the said event, which is one of the major annual tourism activities in Singapore.
“Imposible naman kasing hindi siya ma-invite sa napakalaking event na magaganap dito sa Singapore,” she said. “Pero kung a-attend at pupunta ang Pangulo, kumbaga, pasisinayaan niya yung F1, mas magandang kay Pangulo natin ito madinig.”
Prior to this, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. had a meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Istana in July 2026.
The said meeting happened in relation to the preparations for the next year’s events of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), as the Philippines, this year’s Chair, is expected to pass the baton to Singapore in 2027.
He also participated in the Milken Institute Private Roundtable Discussion at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore, where he met with business leaders and investors in a bid to attract more investments, especially with the recent upgrading of thr country’s status to an “upper-middle income economy” by the World Bank.
