As the tale continues to unfold.
On Saturday, October 3, netizens were stunned after seeing actor Dennis Trillo in the comments section of a video uploaded by the GTV show Chika Cart.
The said clip features host-actress Gelli De Belen as she weighed in on the ongoing issue involving Trillo’s wife and actress Jennylyn Mercado and her ex-partner, Patrick Garcia, following the former child actor’s recent interview with Ogie Diaz.
Now considered the biggest showbiz issue of the day, Garcia brought up matters from 18 years ago as he explained his side of the story about Mercado’s pregnancy with their only son, Alex Jazz, and how they broke up amid the issues thrown at their relationship.
Patrick also said that he decided to speak up after being urged by Michelle Garcia, who is her daughter with his current wife Nikka Garcia, to speak up amid the bashing she has been receiving from the public.
However, following the interview, Dennis stood up for his wife and their family through a series of posts on social media.
Back to Gelli De Belen, in her appearance on Chika Cart last Friday, October 2, she expressed her views on the matter.
At one point, she was asked whether the tell-all interview was necessary, she responded: zI cannot say for a fact na I would say think that it was necessary or not kasi hindi ko naman alam ang pinagdadaanan ni Patrick. Hindi ko naman alam ang pinagdadaanan ng anak niya.”
She, however, noted that if she was in her position, she would have probably dealt with it differently, or agree to do an interview.
“‘Di ko alam ang gagawin ko eh, kasi wala ako sa posisyon niya, mahirap,” she also said.
However, the host-actress said that she understood where Patrick is coming from as a father.
“Ama siya eh, hindi mo makukwestiyon kung ano ang pagmamahal ng magulang. So kung ano man ang ginawa man niya sa pangalan ng pagtatanggol sa kanyang anak, mahirap din namang i-judge,” she added.
In another part of the interview, De Belen clarified, after she got comments during the live broadcast for her to “pick a side,” that she is concerned about the children involved in the issue.
“Ang kampi ako, sa mga bata (Jazz and Michelle). I just want to reiterate na everything I said is out of concern for the children, because the parents are okay, they’re fine, they’re thriving, they’re happy in their own relationships. They’re good to go. The kids, they have to deal with this,” she said.
“Whatever is coming out, kung ano man ang sinasabi ng mga tao sa kanila… ‘yung mga bata ang magdadala niyan. ‘Yun ang hindi okay.”
Gelli added, “At least yung mga magulang, they can handle things, they know they’ve been throug through it. Happy na sila with their significant other, okay na sila. ‘Yung mga bata ang kawawa. Let’s try to be kind.”
However, Dennis was especially not happy with her earlier comments.
Directly tagging Gelli, he wrote in his reply to the video: “[N]ananahimik kami…lahat yan ay natural na reaksyon ng matinong TAO! Pasalamat kayo, dinaan ko nalang sa ganyan. Oo, kawawa talaga mga bata, may mga anak din kami! Sisihin mo yung nagsimula ng gulo.”
The show itself was also not spared from his anger, with the Kapuso actor directly calling them out.
“Ako lang ba o parang may kinakampihan ang mga magagaling na ito? Congrats sa new show sa GTV !!!! bagay na bagay kayo (diyan),” he wrote with stool emojis.
In response to the situation, on Sunday, GTV and Chika Cart issued a statement.
“We understand that the recent discussion on Chika Cart has drawn different reactions online,” the show wrote. “The views shared during the conversation were personal opinions expressed as part of an open discussion. Chika Cart does not intend to take sides or disrespect anyone involved.”
“Let’s keep the conversation respectful and choose kindness, especially when families are involved,” the program concluded its statement.
As of this writing, Gelli De Belen has yet to make any comments regarding the matter.
