She has spoken up on the matter.
Last Sunday, September 20, the Quezon City Police District served an arrest warrant against Lakambini Chiu, who was regarded as the sixth most-wanted within their area, over the multiple counts, 124 to be exact, of qualified theft complaint filed by her sister, actress-TV host Kim Chiu.
For days, the Kapamilya star remained mum on the matter, but on Thursday, September 24, she finally broke her silence and aired her side through a statement that she coursed through her home network, ABS-CBN.
The 36-year-old told that she is hurting with what is happening right now. “I do not know where to start po. Sobrang nasasaktan po ako,” she said.
She acknowledged that the public have different opinions with her decision to pursue the case, which is something that she understands.
Kim then noted that while there are things she cannot talk about amid the ongoing legal process, she affirmed that this was “never about my personal money.”
“This is about a business which started in 2023, built with years of hard work, sacrifices, and dreams. A business I poured my heart into, hoping it would become my future when the time comes for me to step away from show business,” she said.
She also said that it is a business she worked very hard to build. “I believe that going through this legal process should never take away the company’s right to stand up for what is right, protect what the company have worked for, and seek accountability through the proper legal process,” Kim underscored.
The actress-TV host also noted that in the complaint that she filed in December 2025, it only covered the period from January to July of 2025.
“There is so much more to this story that I am choosing not to disclose publicly,” she continued.
“There is so much I am choosing not to say right now. Not because I do not have a story to tell, but because there is a proper time and place for the truth. For now, I trust and let the legal process take its course,” she added.
Following her arrest, court initially set the bail for Lakambini to PHP5.8 million, but it was reduced to PHP5.6 million following a motion filed by her camp.
Prior to the filing of the case in December 2025, rumors about the rift between the sisters circulated after eagle-eyed netizens on social media spotted that Kim and Lakambini stopped following each other on Instagram.
Both of them remained mum on the issue, although they were not spotted together in public since then.
