Last September 10, streaming giant Netflix announced the powerhouse lineup of stars joining forces for a new series based on the popular webtoon G’Day.

Under the working title Outback, Ryu Jun-yeol, Hong Kyung, HOYEON, Won Ji-an, and Justin H. Min are set to star in the newly announced project.

The series follows Zion (Hong Kyung), who travels to Australia after receiving the tragic news of his sister’s sudden death — only to be confronted, in an unfamiliar city, with unsettling questions about how she died, and to find himself relentlessly chasing the truth.

Ryu Jun-yeol will play the part of Han Minhyuk, a mysterious man standing at the very center of the investigation.

As mentioned, Hong Kyung will play Zion, the brother who travels to Australia to unearth the truth behind his sister’s death, and whose search soon spirals into obsession as he follows her haunting final traces.

HOYEON is set to star as Smiley, an unpredictable livestream creator, while Won Ji-an has been tapped to be Si-young, Zion’s sister and catalyst for the entire tragedy.

Justin H. Min will also join the cast as Scott, a Korean-Australian police officer who adds dynamic energy and tension to the story.

Han Jun-hee, who also helmed D.P. and the Weak Hero franchise, also serves as executive producer and creator.

We wanted to use the unique strengths of the television medium to delve deeper into the characters’ emotions and dynamic relationships. Beyond the thrills of uncovering a mystery, we aimed to capture the fragile vulnerabilities, inner conflicts, and growth of youth caught in the crossfire,” he said.

The series will be directed by Jeon Du-gwan, while Park Hyun-woo and Han Jun-hee serve as screenwriters.

Outback is set to become available exclusively on Netflix, with the target date yet to be announced.
