It remains to be one of his most-popular singles to date.
In a post on his social media account, original Filipino music (OPM) hitmaker Maki expressed how he felt after performing at the recent Awit Awards 2026, which happened on Tuesday, September 15.
“[I] still can’t quite put into words what it felt like performing kahel na langit take its biggest stage yet,” admitted the music personality in his post.
He then noted that there is something “deeply surreal” about seeing a song that “once lived as words on a page become something thousands of people can hear, feel, and experience together.”
“[A]nd selfishly, i’m allowing myself to sit with the pride of knowing that I wrote this,” he continued.
According to Maki, kahel na langit has always meant so much to him. Not just because of what it became, but also because of where it started.
“[T]o see it grow beyond the pain I exprienced, the page, beyond the studio, and onto a stage this big feels like watching a little piece of myself come alive in a way i could only have imagined,” he continued.
That night, he said, he was not just proud of the song.
“[I’m] proud of the words i gave it, the story we built around it, and everyone who helped bring its colors to life,” he said. “(It’s) funny how one color could remind us a whole lifetime. a lifetime of memories and a love that would never ever die.“
Calling back on one of the lines from the song, he added: “kahit lumipas man ilang dekada.”
“[A]nd just like how the sun says goodbye inevitably, it always comes back smiling with the warmth and assurance that life simply must goes on. cause when life goes on, so does love,” he continued.
To concluded his post, Maki said, “[F]rom the darkest shade of pain in my heart, to kahel na langit under the brightest stars… what a beautiful thing it is to say: I wrote that.”
Maki is known for his successive hit singles such as Dilaw, Namumula, Bughaw—which are, like kahel na langit, are all part of Kolorcoaster—as well as his prior songs from Tanong? like Saan, Bakit, and Kailan.
