The climb begins.
The popular Korean webcomic and web novel SSS-Class Revival Hunter is officially receiving an anime adaptation, with streaming platform Crunchyroll set to bring it to audiences worldwide, except most parts of Asia (with the program having availability in the Indian subcontinent, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Malaysia).
Set to premiere in January 2027, the official synopsis for the animated series reads: “A mysterious tower crawling with monsters has suddenly appeared, drawing Hunters willing to risk their lives for glory and riches.“
“Gongja Kim, a weak F-rank Hunter, spends his days envying the Flame Emperor who reigns as the top Hunter. But his chance at greatness finally arrives when he joins forces with the Sword Emperor and gains a rare S-rank skill, with one catch: he must die to activate it,” it furthered.
The first teaser trailer and visual offer a glimpse at the beginning of Gongja Kim’s journey.
Living an unremarkable existence as a bottom-ranked hunter, Gongja looks on enviously at those who have reached the top. Hovering above him is a mysterious card glowing with light and watching silently from behind is the man known as the Sword Emperor.
The newly announced Japanese voice cast includes Takeo Otsuka as the lead character Gongja Kim, while Satoshi Hino plays the part of the Sword Emperor.
The anime is directed by Hiroaki Sakurai, with a script by Sayuri Oba and character designs by Takahiro Yoshimatsu. Animation is being produced by STUDIO fu.
Further details about it are expected to be revealed in due course.
