TV5 folds ‘Una Sa Lahat’ back into ‘Frontline Pilipinas’ as lead segment

Last Monday, September 7, TV5 formally debuted the revamped look of its primetime newscasts Una Sa Lahat and the flagship Frontline Pilipinas.

The move, which comes after the addition of classic episodes of ABS-CBN’s game show Minute To Win It presented by Luis Manzano, sees the two news program fused together into one, seamless newscast.

Una Sa Lahat, anchored by Jiggy Manicad, continues to go straight to the heart of the biggest news in politics of the day with News5 reporters giving their firsthand accounts and other vital information about these stories.

It takes the airwaves from 6:30 pm to around 6:50 pm. At that point, Manicad will formally hand over audiences to Cheryl Cosim and Julius Babao for Frontline Pilipinas.

The flagship Kapatid newscast delivers beyond politics as it also covers crime, showbiz, weather, and more, until 8:00 pm.

According to the network’s plugs, Frontline Pilipinas remains the overarching brand of the news program, with Una Sa Lahat acting as a show-within-a-show—resulting to the promotional spiels being “Frontline Pilipinas, kasama ang Una sa Lahat.”

Graphics-wise, the change was also visually reflected since Tuesday, September 8, when Una Sa Lahat officially relinquished its own set of lower-thirds to reflect how it has now returned to its original status of being a lead-in segment of Frontline Pilipinas.

Hence, this makes the new setup effectively a reversal of sorts of the previous move to divide TV5’s primetime news belt into two programs in the middle of last year.

But first, going back further to 2024, Frontline Pilipinas was reintroduced to become a tri-anchor show with Babao, Cosim, and Manicad and had a 90-minute runtime—similar to its current length.

That would be slightly altered in June 2024, when the network slotted in the drama series Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa at 7:30 pm, prompting the last 30 minutes to be exclusively seen on other platforms such as RPTV (on certain days), One PH, and online, and heard on True FM.

This would be stopped later on as TV5 eventually refreshed its evening news offering when it launched Primetime Primera in May 2025.

Apart from adding another drama series in between Frontline Pilipinas and then-top-rating series FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, the station effectively divided the flagship newscast.

Manicad would eventually present Una Sa Lahat, which got its title of the introductory video segment of Frontline Pilipinas before the move.

The main edition, meanwhile, returned to its original dual-anchor setup with Babao and Cosim—a setup that remains in effect to this day.

Frontline Pilipinas airs weeknights at 6:30 pm on TV5 platforms, One PH, and True FM.
