Taiwan Expo brings 125 exhibitors in return to Manila this September

Energy storage, hydrogen microgrids, and grid resilience technology will headline the upcoming edition.

Energy storage, hydrogen microgrids, and grid resilience technology will headline the upcoming edition.

From September 17 to 19, the Taiwan Expo,  organized by the International Trade Administration under Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA),will return to the Philippines after its successful edition in the preceding year.

Set to happen at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Taiwan Expo 2026 will bring together businesses, industry stakeholders, and the general public for exhibitions, seminars, cultural showcases, and B2B activities.

The Expo will see more than 125 Taiwanese exhibitors across technology, sustainability, agriculture, healthcare, and lifestyle as it continues to be one of the most important platforms for advancing Taiwan–Philippines relations in trade, innovation, and culture.

Anchoring this year’s program is the Green & Innovation Showcase, where Taiwanese exhibitors will present battery energy storage systems and hydrogen microgrids designed for island and off-grid deployment.

These technologies have direct application to the electrification of communities outside the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao grids.

Alongside them are certified green building insulation aimed at cutting cooling loads in Philippine commercial developments, AI-powered waste sorting systems for local government units facing rising landfill pressure, and fully biodegradable plant-based drinking straws produced at commercial scale.

Notably, these exhibitors arrive at a moment when Philippine grid reliability and power costs remain live commercial concerns.

Meanwhile, at the Agritech & Food Pavilion,  yield and labor constraints in Philippine agriculture are addressed.

Autonomous Mobile Robots reduce dependence on manual field labor, while smart livestock environmental control systems target mortality losses in poultry and swine operations, a recurring cost pressure for Philippine producers.

Taiwanese exporters will also likewise present premium Phalaenopsis orchids, high-mountain teas, and specialty foods seeking Philippine distribution partners.

Over at the Intelligent Technology Pavilion, it spans the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), edge computing, and cybersecurity.

Exhibits include collaborative robots for manufacturing lines, forklift safety systems for warehouse and logistics operators, and zero-trust cybersecurity frameworks aimed at Philippine enterprises operating under the Data Privacy Act and rising ransomware exposure.

Healthcare and consumer biotechnology will be featured in the Beauty & Wellness Pavilion—combining biotech skincare with medical supplies.

There will be functional bio-electro devices, anti-counterfeiting technology for pharmaceutical and cosmetic packaging, and complete lines of sterile surgical supplies and medical dressings for hospital procurement.

Rounding out the floor is the Premium Lifestyle Pavilion, which will feature rPET recycled fabric bags, electric vehicle safety blankets, micrometer towels, memory storage devices, smart wine aerators, and precision bathroom components, most seeking Philippine distributor and retail partners.

This edition will follow the preceding one beld in 2025, when $53.4 million in business opportunities and 10,000 visitors were recorded.

James C. F. Huang, Chairman of TAITRA, noted: “Fifty-three million dollars in business opportunities showed us how much appetite there is in this market. This year we want to build on that through joint ventures, licensing, and local assembly, so Taiwanese and Philippine companies are building together rather than simply trading. Our measure of success is how many of these connections are still producing value for both sides five years from now.

Moreover, the expo takes place as the trade relationship between Taiwan and the Philippines has been expanding steadily.

In 2024, trade between both sides reached $6.71 billion, while bilateral trade rose 8.5 percent in the first seven months of 2025—making Taiwan from the Philippines’ tenth-largest trading partner.
