Manila International Book Fair 2026 to feature impressive lineup of personalities from September 9 to 13

From Wednesday, September 9 to Sunday, September 13, the annual Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) will take over two floors of the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City for its latest edition.

This year, it will bear the theme “Get Lit: Reading in a New Light” and will be hosting an impressive lineup of author talks, panel sessions, and creative workshops across the five-day affair.

STAGE PROGRAMMING

On its opening day, September 9 (Wednesday) the Book Development Association of the Philippines (BDAP) will be  hosting the Gintong Aklat Awards from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm, where the gold standard in local book design, production, and literary quality will be honored with this coveted award.

The following day, on September 10 (Thursday), the education, professional development, and travel will take the spotlight through different activities scheduled throughout the day.

The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians (PAARL) will examine modern technology in “Focus AI: Filipiniana Open Collections for Users and Scholars in the Age of AI” during a session presented by speaker Lady Catherine De Leon from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Meeting Room 8.

Lampara Publishing House will then lead a seminar on using decodable comics for reading fluency from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at F Meeting Room 9.

Travel blogger Kach Medina Umandap launches “Career or Travel, Why Not Both?” at 6:30 pm at the ground floor Stage Area under Penguin Random House SEA.

On September 11 (Friday), there will ne heavy-hitting lineup of cultural icons and creative discussions are lined up.

Adarna House leads “Alamin, Alamin!: Masayang Pag-aaral ng Araling Panlipunan!” featuring Teacher Ani Almario from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Meeting Rooms 4 and 5.

Veteran journalist Howie Severino is set to lead a meet-and-greet hosted by the University of Santo Tomas at Function Room 1 Stage from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

Komiket Studios will then stage “Masaya Magbasa ng Komiks!,” a panel featuring artists Patti Ramos, Tristan Yuvienco, Vaughn Pinpin, Lucas Lacorte, and Carlorozy Clemente at 4:30 pm, at the stage area.

Food historian Felice Prudente Sta. Maria wraps the day of exciting schedules at the launch of “La Cocina Filipina” with Southern Voices Printing Press, at the 2/F Function Room 1 Stage, at 5:15 p.m.

On September 12 (Saturday), music and literature will intersect early in the day as Ben&Ben members Miguel Benjamin Guico and Paolo Benjamin Guico take the stage at 10:00 am for the launch of “The Traveller Across Dimensions” with 8Letters Bookstore & Publishing.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy will then hosts creator Malin Falch for a live conversation on “MANGA from the NORTH” at 12:30 pn.

The Penguin Random House SEA will then present a deep dive into history of rock music with “The Beatles in Manila,” featuring author David Guerrero alongside veteran broadcaster Lourd de Veyra, at Function Room 1 at 4:30 pm.

As the five-day event winds down on Sunday, September 13, contemporary romance and pop culture will take centerstage.

Romance lovers can catch Penguin Random House SEA’s “The Next Love Story” panel featuring authors Ines Bautista-Yao, Mica de Leon, Kyra Ysabel, and AK Tolentino at Function Room 1 at 12:30 pm.

Makiling Made Consumer Goods Trading will follow at 1:45 pm, exploring the process of adapting Filipino books across different mediums.

Entertainment personality and manager Noel Ferrer takes over the 2/F Function Room 1 Stage at 3:00 pm for the launch of his new book, “Level Up,” under Milflores Publishing.

FOR TEACHERS

In support of the National Teachers Month (NTM), themed “My Teacher, My Hero,” free admission is offered to all teachers upon presenting a valid School ID at the counter.

The Metrobank Foundation—the lead proponent of NTM—will also be hosting special activities dedicated to educators at their booth throughout the five-day fair.
