It will be screened in one of the biggest film festivals in the world.
According to GMA Pictures, the animated documentary 58th, which is directed by Carl Joseph Papa, will be screened at the upcoming 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea, which will happen from October 6 to 15, 2026.
The film is slated to be part of the Documentary Showcase of BIFF’s Wide Angle section, where it joins a lineup of bold and distinctive works from different parts of the world.
The FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) has recognized it as an A-List film festival.
58th centers on the victims of the Maguindanao Massacre, which is widely regarded as the deadliest attack on journalists in history.
It brings renewed attention to the story of Reynaldo “Bebot” Momay, whose body was never found and who continues to seek official recognition as the massacre’s 58th victim.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Carl Joseph Papa, the film includes a cast led by Glaiza de Castro—who portrays Bebot’s daughter, Reynafe Castillo—alongside Mikoy Morales, Marco Masa, Zyren Dela Cruz, and Biboy Ramirez.
The animated documentary also serves as the final film performance of the late Ricky Davao, who portrayed Reynaldo Momay.
Produced by GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures, the award-winning animated documentary film made its Philippine premiere last August at the 2026 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.
Prior to that, it was also recognized at the DocEdge Festival in New Zealand, where won in the Facing the Edge category.
